Earlier this year the Southern Midlands Council asked Sugden & Gee to project manage a couple of pedestrian bridges in the Chancy Vale Wildlife Sanctuary to improve safety and access. We walked to the two bridge sites about 1km and 1.5km up the track in a dry river bed. Apparently the rivulet hadn’t flowed for years, however, thanks to Max Moller of Flussig Spatial (who took his drone on a family picnic to capture a terrain model and subsequent flood modelling), by the look of this recent photo, we seem to have set a safe bridge height for a 1 in 100 yr flood. Thanks, also, to Howarth Fisher & Assoc. for designing the bridges in small sections that could be transported in a ute and constructed on-site.
